Who we are

proFagus Food Solutions GmbH was founded in 2022 by Arbonium Technologies GmbH in Bodenfelde as a start-up and has set itself the task of producing flavours from beech wood. In addition to the large-scale industrial plants of the proFagus GmbH biorefinery, proFagus Food Solutions has focused on the special requirements of the food and aroma industry. The raw material beech wood, which has been processed and refined at the main site in Bodenfelde for more than 130 years, takes centre stage here too.

Our products

The key to success: our Pure Smoke® products are versatile and can be used in numerous applications. Aromas: smoke aromas are an important building block for the right taste. Alongside the obvious areas of application such as BBQ flavours, smoke aromas can also be found in snacks, soups and sauces, and a variety of vegetarian and animal products.

proFagus Food Solutions GmbH

We aim to create the highest quality and finest products from the raw material wood. To achieve this, we use the environmentally-friendly retort process. During the carbonisation process (charring), extracts such as gases, acids and beechwood tar are produced. What remains in the retorts at the end of pyrolysis is charcoal with a very high carbon content. The separated extracts are then elaborately processed to create high-quality products such as acetic acid, tar oil, semolina and our proFagus Pure Smoke® smoke aromas.
